Season 10 of The Pod of Inquiry is officially live, and we’re opening with cardiologist Dr. Aseem Malhotra for a wide-ranging conversation about statins, medical research, pharmaceutical influence, and restoring trust in medicine.
Dr. Malhotra is a consultant cardiologist with more than 25 years in medicine, author of A Statin-Free Life, creator of First Do No Pharm, and Chief Medical Advisor to the MAHA movement. His views on cardiovascular health and evidence-based medicine have made him a prominent voice in the debate over statins and modern healthcare. (Can We Trust Modern Medicine)
In this episode, Dr. Malhotra discusses:
- What statin trials show in absolute risk terms
- How pharma and medical journals interact
- Ghostwriting, Vioxx, and clinical-trial data
- His views on RFK Jr., Jay Bhattacharya, and Andy Burnham
- The legislation he believes could improve medical transparency
- Whether drug companies should test their own drugs
- How physicians can help restore trust in medicine
The conversation also ends on a hopeful note, with Dr. Malhotra challenging physicians to question established practices and advocate for better healthcare for future generations.
