Can ketone supplements reduce essential tremors—without drugs or surgery?
In this episode of Pod of Inquiry, we sit down with Maria Watson, CEO of Approved Medical Solutions, to discuss her remarkable experience living with essential tremor for more than 25 years. ( Can Ketones Stop Essential Tremors )
After trying countless approaches, Maria made an unexpected discovery: a precise dose of exogenous ketones dramatically reduced her tremors in just 40 minutes. What began as a workout supplement soon became the focus of a pilot study, where 95% of participants reported noticeable tremor reduction after a single dose.
Now, Maria and her team are launching a larger clinical study to further investigate whether ketone supplementation could offer a new approach for people living with essential tremor.
In This Episode you’ll discover:
- Why ketones may provide a more efficient fuel source for the brain than glucose in certain conditions
- How nitric oxide and improved blood flow may enhance ketone delivery to the central nervous system
- The surprising connection between essential tremor, nerve entrapment, and cellular energy
- Why Dr. Barrett believes similar bioenergetic principles apply in peripheral nerve surgery
- What Maria experienced after maintaining low nutritional ketosis for more than a year
- The importance of supplement quality and the challenges within the nutraceutical industry
If you or someone you know struggles with essential tremor, this conversation offers an intriguing look at an emerging area of research.
📌 Interested in the Essential Tremor Study?
The study is free to participate in. Researchers are currently seeking adults with essential tremor (not Parkinson’s disease) who are not taking tremor medications and are willing to complete a simple three-day protocol.

Author Biography

Maria Watson, CEO — Approved Medical Solutions
Maria shares over 32 years of experience in the supplement formulation and manufacturing industry.
In 1987 she lost her 3-year-old son Joshua to a drunk driver. For three years, I suffered from severe depression and was overly medicated.
On 2/11/91, she was introduced to an amino acid formulation and got her life back. The passion for saving people from depression in my son’s honor had begun.
Soon after joining the company that made that formula-it stopped working! It was in 1994 that she went into formulation and manufacturing so she would always be able to control the quality of my products.
Before recently starting Approved Medical Solutions, she and her husband owned Vitamin Research Products (VRP), which included the highly respected medical brand Complementary Prescriptions (CP). Over 1100 formulas were manufactured in our state-of-the-art 55,000-square-foot cGMP facility. Although thy sold the brands in 2010, her retirement was short-lived as her passion for health remained strong.
Throughout this deeply rewarding journey in the Health and Wellness industry, she had the privilege of working with some amazing experts–many of the who’s-who in medicine and science: John Lee, MD, Ward Dean, MD, Frank Shallenberger, MD, Guy Abraham, MD, David Brownstein, MD, Mitchell Ghen, MD, Mitchell Fleisher, MD, Nathan Bryan, Ph.D., Beth Shirley, Rph CCN.

Episode Overview
Maria Watson, a 25-year essential tremor sufferer and founder of Approved Medical Solutions, joins Dr. Barrett to describe how a precise dose of exogenous ketones (24g on a glycerol carrier, no butanediol) stopped her tremors within 40 minutes — a discovery she made accidentally while studying metabolic performance. Her informal pilot study showed 95% of participants experienced measurable tremor reduction. A formal study is now enrolling (FREE, no obligation). The conversation weaves Maria’s personal story with Dr. Barrett’s bioenergetic framework from peripheral nerve surgery, illuminating why ketones may rescue energy-deprived neural circuits in both the peripheral and central nervous systems.
